LYSAKER, Norway – Statoil has made a call-off from Kvaerner’s framework agreement for upgrading of the Njord A semisubmersible platform.

This includes preparations and docking of the platform. The estimated value is NOK350 million ($42.4 million).

The project framework agreement (PFA) signed by both parties in April is based on a project execution plan, under which Statoil - at key milestones - has the option to call-off the execution of further phases.

First call-off for front-end engineering and design was signed at the same time as the PFA. In May, Statoil made a call-off for a yard stay for the platform at Kvaerner’s yard in Stord, western Norway.

Under the latest call-off, the contractor is responsible for preparations of reconstruction and execution of docking of the platform, including removal of the derrick, flare and lifeboat system, and inspection.

Also within the scope is prefabrication of time-critical elements such as two pontoons that will increase the buoyancy of the hull.

Currently the platform is moored at the quayside where it will remain until the derrick, flare, and lifeboats are removed. Simultaneously, fabrication of the two new pontoons will get under way.

The dry dock phase is expected to last until end August 2017.
