STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has commissioned Aker Solutions to construct and install a new module to increase gas processing capacity on the Troll B platform in the Norwegian North Sea.
The NOK370-million ($44.8-million) contract is an option under a front-end engineering and design contract awarded to Aker in January.
The gas module will help improve oil recovery at theTroll field, especially during tail-end production.
From start-up of the module in fall 2018 until Troll B is shut down in 2025 it will increase recovery by around 4.7 MMbbl of oil, said project director Eric Normann Ulland.
Aker Solutions will perform engineering in Bergen and module construction will start at the company’s yard in Egersund in 2017.
The structure, weighing just above 500 metric tons (551 tons), is due to be lifted onto Troll B in spring of 2018 and become operational during summer 2018.
