WOKING, UK – Spectrum has started acquiring a 1,800-sq km (695-sq mi) multi-client 3D seismic survey in the western Barents Sea.

The new survey will tie and complement the company’s existing 3D surveys in the area. On completion, the combined coverage will total about 20,000 sq km (7,722 sq mi) over prospective and potential Norwegian 24th round acreage.

Data is being acquired with 10 x 8,000-m (26,247-ft) streamer offsets to record data required to understand the basin architecture, and to better image prospective zones within the Palaeocene-Eocene and Jurassic-Cretaceous and Late Cretaceous marine sands.

Spectrum will process the results and issue a broadband fasttrack volume early next year to allow participating clients to start interpretation and prospect screening. The final PreSTM Broadband dataset and offset volumes will be available during 2Q 2017, ahead of the 24th round.

The survey is being acquired inpartnership with BGP.
