MANILA, the Philippines – Emerson has upgraded automation technology to improve the reliability of Shell’s Malampaya gas production facilities offshore and onshore the Philippines.
Gas from theMalampaya field powers generating stations that provide up to 40% of electricity on the island of Luzon, home to more than 48 million people.
Emerson’s team helped Shell execute a planned upgrade of the control system, networks, and valve equipment on the Malampaya production platform, and also the safety system on the related onshore gas processing facility.
The program was designed to ensure the shortest possible downtime and the safety of the more than 75 workers involved.
