DUBLIN, Ireland ā€“ Petrel Energy says PGS has completed the BrĆ©anann 3D seismic acquisition survey over a 2,392-sq km (923-sq mi) area of the northern Porcupine basin.

The location is 150 km (93 mi) west off the Kerry coast, southwest Ireland.Ā Water depth for the survey was 500-1,300 m (1,640-4,265 ft), although the water depth for Petrel and partner Woodsideā€™s targets is likely to be 600-800 m (1,968-2,624 ft).

All the data was acquired over 40 days: roughly 1,400 sq km (540 sq mi) was directly over or around license FEL 3/14, in which Petrel has a 15% carried interest.

DownUnder GeoSolutions in Australia has started processing the pre-stacked depth migration data.Ā Petrel expects to receive initial results in January, with interpretation complete by mid-2017.

This work is designed to de-risk primary targets of Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous age, and may lead to one or more well commitments during 2017-2021.
