PSA sanctions Lundin well on Filicudi in the Barents Sea

Lundin Norway has approval from Petroleum Safety Authority Norway for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Lundin Norway has approval from Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea.

Initially, this involves drilling well 7219/12-1 on theFilicudi prospect, 218 km (135 mi) northwest of Hammerfest in a water depth of roughly 320 m (1,050 ft), followed potentially by a well test.

The semisubmersibleLeiv Eiriksson will start the 59-day initial program shortly.

In addition, PSA has cleared Statoil to use theFloatel Endurance accommodation semisub at the Gina Krog oil and gas development in the North Sea.

The location is 250 km (155 mi) west of Stavanger and 30 km (18.6 mi) northwest of Sleipner A. Statoil plans to install a steel platform and an oil storage vessel with a capacity of 850,000 bbl.
