CALGARY, Canada – Sterling Resources expects operator Ineos to initiate an infill drilling campaign next spring on the Breagh gas field in the UK southern North Sea.
This will likely entail drilling two new wells (A09 and A10) and re-entry and hydraulic stimulation of an existing well to improve performance.
Wells A11 and A12, and a further hydraulic stimulation of another existing well, could follow as part of the same drilling campaign. In addition, planning has commenced for a limited scope intervention to re-start non-producing well A04.
Breagh Phase 2 planning remains on hold to allow for assimilation of results from 3D seismic interpretation work including reservoir characterization of the southeastern areas of the field.
Front-end engineering and design work on onshore compression at the Teesside Gas Processing Plant in northern England that receives Breagh’s gas was completed at the end of February. Sterling expects sanction for the compression project to come through during 1Q 2017, followed by detailed engineering and start-up at the end of 3Q 2018.
In the Dutch North Sea, Sterling has a 35% stake in blocks F17a and F18 (Jurassic and Early Cretaceous horizons) containing three small oil discoveries.
Wintershall continues to evaluate development options for theRembrandt oil discovery on adjacent acreage. Sterling acquired 3D seismic during 2014 on a cost-sharing basis with Wintershall to clarify the various development options for these discoveries.
Although seismic processing was completed last September, inversion of the processed data was postponed until initial interpretation was completed to allow a more focused area to be defined.
This program started in July and seismic mapping of key reservoir horizons continues.
