NOPSEMA asks BP for further details on offshore South Australia wells

    Australian regulator NOPSEMA has requested further information from BP Developments Australia concerning the latter’s environment plan for drilling the offshore Stromlo-1 and Whinham-1 exploration wells in the Great Australian Bight.

    PERTH, Australia – Australian regulator NOPSEMA has requested further information from BP Developments Australia concerning the latter’s environment plan for drilling the offshore Stromlo-1 and Whinham-1 exploration wells in the Great Australian Bight.

    BP will likely provide the information by Oct. 28, at which time NOPSEMA will recommence its assessment. BP can also request an extension of this timeframe.

    NOPSEMA says its action is a normal part of its environment plan assessment process, to determine whether the plan meets criteria for acceptance under Australia’s environment regulations.
