OSLO, Norway– Eni Norge has decided that its Goliat field will remain shut down until measures are implemented and management and workers agree the platform can be operated prudently, Norway’s Petroleum and Safety Authority (PSA) said.
Following the PSA’s investigation into themost recent power outage onboard the cylindricalGoliat FPSO, the agency and operator met today, Sept. 9, about the work currently under way and plans about the full review of the safety position on the facility.
“We are comfortable that the facility remains shut down, and with the answers we’ve received from Eni Norge so far,” says Anne Myhrvold, director general of the PSA.
Myhrvold added that Eni Norge would brief the PSA about safety conditions on the platform before Goliat resumes production.
“We will not speculate about the timing of a restart,” she said.
Eni Norge started oil production from theGoliat field in March.
