SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni has upgraded resources at the Baltim South West field offshore Egypt to 1 tcf in place.
This follows the results of the Baltim South West 2X appraisal well, drilled immediately after the successful discovery well Baltim South West 1X.
The field is in 25 m (82 ft) of water in the Nile Delta, 12 km (7.5 mi) from the coast and 10 km (6.2 mi) from theNooros field, which the same Petrobel joint venture discovered in July 2015 and which is already in production.
The Baltim South West 2X well encountered an 86-m (282-ft) net gas column in two sand layers of Messinian age with good quality reservoirs.
Eni now estimates the gas potential of the Great Nooros Area at 3 tcf in place, of which around 2 tcf are in the Nooros field.
The company and partner BP are already working on development options. As with Nooros, they are looking for synergies with existing infrastructure in the area in order to speed up development.
Eni has a 50% stake in theBaltim South concession via its subsidiary IOEC, while BP holds the remaining 50%. Operator Petrobel is a joint venture between IEOC and Egyptian General Petroleum Corp.
