V.Filanovsky jacket departs Astrakhan for Caspian Sea

Transportation has started of a jacket for the offshore ice-resistant stationary platform #2 from Astrakhan on the Russian Caspian coast to Lukoil’s V.Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea.

MOSCOW – Transportation has started of a jacket for the offshore ice-resistant stationary platform #2 from Astrakhan on the Russian Caspian coast to Lukoil’s V.Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea.
The platform will be used for drilling and operation of wells during the second stage of field development.
Galaktika shipyard in Astrakhan fabricated the jacket which measures 28.3 х 23.7 х 19 m (93 x 78 x 62 ft) and weights more than 2,500 tons. The topsides is under construction elsewhere in the Astrakhan region.
The accommodation platform topsides for the second stage is being built at various shipyards in Astrakhan – early last month, this platform’s jacket was installed at the field’s offshore location.
According toLukoil, V.Filanovsky is Russia’s largest discovery in the past 25 years, situated 220 km (137 mi) from Astrakhan in water depths of 7-11 m (23-36 ft). Production, due to start in September, should peak at 6 MM tons/yr.
