ABERDEEN, UK – Vard Group has awarded deck machinery specialist ACE Winches a spooling contract for what is said to be Norway’s largest construction vessel.
The scope covers spooling of two 3,500-m (11,483-ft) ROV umbilicals and spooling of a crane boom wire and auxiliary wire, including 3,900 m (12,795 ft) of 135-mm (5.31-in.) wire onto the vessel’s crane.
ACE had to build a new winch to accommodate the 360-metric ton (397-ton) weight of the largest wire.
