ZUG, Switzerland– Transocean has issued an update on it offshore drilling rigs.
ONGC has awarded Transocean a two-year contract for the Jack Bates deepwater semisubmersible. Drilling offshore India is due to start in October at a day rate of $127,000.
In May, the newbuild ultra-deepwater drillshipDeepwater Proteus began operations on its 10-year contract in the US Gulf of Mexico at a current day rate of $498,000. In accordance with the drilling contract with Shell, this day rate reflects adjustments for reduced operating costs.
TheTransocean Spitsbergen was awarded a one-well contract in the UK sector of the North Sea at an undisclosed day rate. The semisubmersible recently spudded a pilot well on Hurricane Energy’s Lancaster oil field west of Shetland.
Additionally, the rig was awarded a one-well contract in the Norwegian North Sea for operator Repsol at an undisclosed day rate.
Independent Oil and Gas expects theSedco 704 semisubmersible to start appraisal drilling on the Skipper oil discovery in the UK northern North Sea shortly.
Transocean has stacked the ultra-deepwater drillshipDeepwater Millennium, the ultra-deepwater semisubmersibles GSF Development Driller I and Cajun Express, the semisubmersible Transocean Driller, and the high-specification jackups GSF Constellation II and Transocean Honor.
The deepwater floaterSedco 702 is classified as held for sale.
