SHARJAH, UAE – Lamprell expects to deliver a newbuild jackup drilling rig next month, several months behind schedule.
The rig, which is in the final stages of commissioning, had undergone a series of equipment proving tests which brought to light a technical issue with components supplied by an original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
Otherwise, the workscope for making the rig ready for delivery is complete.
The resultant delay could leaveLamprell exposed to potential damages, although the board expects to recover the majority of the remedial costs from the OEM, using legal means if necessary.
All the other six rigs the company is constructing remain on schedule.
