LONDON – Sterling Energy says the recent production performance from the declining Chinguetti field offshore Mauritania has been consistent with the projected 2016 forecast.
However, the depressed oil price continues to impact the project’s economics. Discussions continue on a fielddecommissioning plan, following cessation of production, currently slated for late 2016/early 2017.
As for Mauritania’s offshoreblock C-10, the partners have been maturing the prospect and lead inventory in an attempt to select a drilling candidate prior to the November 2017 well commitment.
They have focused on a range of play types, in particular developing the Cenomanian play proven byKosmos Energy in its deepwater Mauritanian acreage.
