HOUSTON – McDermott International has signed a memorandum of understanding with Nakilat-Keppel Offshore Marine (N-KOM) to exclusively cooperate on offshore engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) projects offshore Qatar.

Under the five-year agreement, McDermott and N-KOM, the shipyard owned by Qatar’s Nakilat and Keppel Offshore & Marine, will harness McDermott’s capabilities in offshore EPCI projects and N-KOM’s ship repair and offshore construction facility at the Erhama Bin Jaber Al Jalahma shipyard inQatar.

McDermott will act as prime contractor to clients and manage engineering via its teams in Dubai and, if needed, its Global Engineering Center in Chennai, India.

Additionally, the company will lead procurement and installation, mobilizing vessels from its global marine fleet, while N-KOM will serve as subcontractor and perform fabrication in Qatar.

Over the past 20 years, McDermott claims to have fabricated more than 80% of Qatar’s offshore North Field gas infrastructure. It recently installed a platform jacket forQatar Petroleum’s North Field Alpha complex.

Elsewhere in the region the company has secured three new EPCI projects from Saudi Aramco for brownfield work offshore neighboringSaudi Arabia.

During 2Q, the company continued execution of itsSaudi Aramco LTA II Lump Sum project following the earlier start of fabrication. The last remaining jacket of its Twelve Jackets project is now complete, ready for load-out and installation and set to meet the client’s revised timing.

Finally, McDermott says pre-commissioning has started on the ADMA 4 Gas Injection project off Abu Dhabi following completion of all major installation scopes.
