Lundin, Statoil get clearance for offshore Norway wildcats

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has authorized Lundin Norway’s use of the semisubmersible Leiv Eirkisson for exploration drilling in the Barents Sea.
Well 7220/6-2 R will be an extension of the previous wildcat 7220/6-2, drilled in 2015 in production license 609.
The license, awarded in 2011, comprises blocks/part-blocks 7220/6, 7220/9, 7220/11, 7220/12, and 7221/4.
NPD has also green-lighted Statoil’s request to drilling exploration well 6407/7-9 S, 5 km (3 mi) north of theNjord field in the Norwegian Sea, using the semisub Songa Delta.
This will be the first exploratory drilling on the surrounding production license 107 C, awarded in January 2009.
