LONDON – EnQuest has proven commercial volumes of oil in its Eagle exploration well in the UK central North Sea.
This was one of numerous prospects the company acquired on acquiring operatorship of theGreater Kittiwake Area (GKA) facilities and acreage from Centrica in 2014.
EnQuest’s preliminary analysis suggests the well encountered Fulmar oil-bearing reservoir with a vertical thickness of 67 ft (20.4 m). There was no oil water contact, which indicates potential for upside on the flank of the structure.
Results suggest recoverable reserves on a par with the nearby producingGadwall oil field of around 6 MMbbl.
The company restored Gadwall to production through the GKA facilities last year.
In addition, EnQuest has completed drilling of theScolty/Crathes development wells ahead of schedule and under budget. The Scolty reservoir was on prognosis while the Crathes reservoir exceeded expectations, leading to a small reserves upgrade.
