RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras’ latest appraisal well on the Libra field in the presalt Santos basin has delivered the largest net pay to date.
The 410-m (1,345-ft) thick oil column surpasses the 301 m (987 ft) encountered during drilling in March.
Well 3-RJS-742A, in the northwest section of the block, 180 km (112 mi) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, confirmed the discovery of good-quality oil (27º API) in productive reservoirs.
The location is 10.3 km (6.4 mi) south of the2-ANP-2A-RJS discovery well.
Petrobras and its partners have drilled six of the seven wells to date on the block, and an eighth well is under way.
