ABERDEEN, UK – Corrosion and erosion monitoring solutions provider Permasense has appointed the Saudi Trading And Research Co. (STARC) as its exclusive representative in Saudi Arabia.

STARC is an oil and gas, petrochemical, energy and water desalination solutions provider which has delivered pipeline and corrosion services in the country for more than a decade.

Kevin Clarke, chief revenue officer at Permasense, said this was the company’s first foray into the Middle East. “It is estimated that 70% of the fixed platforms and bridges in the region are more than 25 years old, while some exceed 40 years.

“These ageing assets mean that there is a clear opportunity for Permasense’s continuous pipe-wall thickness sensors.”

Permasense provides continuous integrity monitoring for theoil and gas production sector, involving real-time data-to-desk measurement of fixed equipment wall thicknesses in inhospitable and inaccessible environments.

Its non-intrusive integrity monitoring systems are said to employ unique sensor technology and wireless data delivery to continuously monitor for metal loss from corrosion or erosion.

Since the start of 2015 the company has opened three offices and currently has branches in Aberdeen and Horsham in the UK, Houston, and Kuala Lumpur. It also has a local agent to support its activity in Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea.
