PEMEX commissions McDermott for Abkatun-A2 platform fabrication, installation

McDermott International Inc. has received a $454-million EPCI contract from PEMEX Exploracion y Produccion for the Abkatun-A2 platform in the Bay of Campeche.

HOUSTON– McDermott International Inc. has received a $454-million contract from PEMEX Exploracion y Produccion to engineer, procure, construct, and install (EPCI) the Abkatun-A2 platform in 124 ft (38 m) of water in Mexico’s Bay of Campeche.
McDermott will provide a vertically integrated, turnkey EPCI solution to build and commission the platform and associated structures using its project management and engineering team in Mexico.
The platform will provide replacement and expansion capabilities to the existing Ku-Maloob-Zaap,Cantarell, and Ayatsil facilities.
Engineering and procurement activities will commence immediately with fabrication scheduled to begin in late 2016 at theAltamira, Mexico fabrication facility followed by offshore activities in 2018. The company is expected to use the Derrick Barge 50 and the Intermac 650, the world’s second largest float-over installation vessel. Handover to PEMEX is scheduled for 4Q 2018.
This is McDermott’s largest project in size and total value to-date forPEMEX.
