SINGAPORE – The 13,900-metric ton (15,322-ton) platform deck for the Ivar Aasen project in the Norwegian North Sea has begun its voyage from the Sembawang yard.

According to operatorDet norske oljeselskap, the Cosco vessel Xiang Rui Kou is expected to deliver the structure to the field location next month.

The living quarters, built at Stord, will be installed on the deck, which will then be lifted into place on the pre-installed jacket. Det norske anticipates first oil on Dec. 1.

Ivar Aasen’s deck, measuring 108 m (354 ft) long and 38 m (124 ft) wide, has systems for separation of oil and water, water treatment, gas compression, chemical injection, and a flare boom.

The field contains around 204 MMboe, included the Hanz deposit, and could remain in production for 20 years.
