MOSCOW– Development drilling has started from the LSP-1 ice-resistant fixed platform serving Lukoil’s Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea.
The company expects first production later this year.
According to Lukoil, Filanovsky is the largest newRussian field discovered in the past 25 years, situated 220 km (137 mi) from Astrakhan in water depths ranging from 7-11 m (23-36 ft).
The company assesses recoverable reserves at 128 MM tons of oil and more than 41 bcm of natural and associated gas.
