ASKER, Norway – TGS will expand its multi-client library offshore eastern Canada by acquiring around 2,000 sq km (772 sq mi) of 3D seismic data, in partnership with PGS.
The latter will deploy its GeoStreamer technology – the industry-supported survey will start this summer.
PGS will perform pre-processing of the initial GeoStreamer signal with TGS responsible for the main data processing. Final results should be issued during 3Q 2017.
Currently the library in the region comprises more than 112,000 km (69,593 mi) of modern 2D data and 9,172 sq km (3,541 sq mi) of 3D data, owned jointly with PGS, in addition to 83,700 km (52,009 mi) of TGS vintage data.
TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said: “This project will provide valuable data to exploration companies to further de-risk their prospects.”
