OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has approved Shell’s proposed well campaign at the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea.
TheIsland Constructor intervention vessel will be used for start-up and repair of wells in 250 m (820 ft) of water.
Draugen produces oil through a fixed concrete platform with an integrated deck. Stabilized oil is stored in tanks in the base of the facility.
PSA is considering BP’s application to extend the life of theTambar oil field facilities in the southern Norwegian North Sea until Jan. 1, 2022.
Tambar, 16 km (9.9 mi) southeast ofBP’s Ula field, has been developed using a remotely controlled wellhead platform without processing equipment.
However, PSA has identified various areas of improvement relating to the physical fitness of helideck personnel, rescue of injured persons from cranes, change in the use of emergency preparedness vessel, and training of emergency preparedness staff.
It has asked BP to respond by June 20.
