OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved two exploration wells in the North Sea.
The semisubmersibleTransocean Arcticis expected to soon spud the Brasse well for operator Faroe Petroleum on production license 740.
Well 31/7-1, the first on the license, is 16 km (9.9 mi) southeast of Oseberg A and 93 km (58 mi) west of Sotra in Hordaland, in a water depth of 188 m (617 ft). Drilling should take up to 57 days to complete.
Wintershall will drill well 35/11-19S on the Orion prospect in block 35/11, using the semisubBorgland Dolphin.
The location is 98 km (61 mi) southwest of Floro in 379 m (1,243 ft) of water. Again, drilling should start this month, and could last up to 134 days in the event of a discovery, as this would entail subsequent side tracks.
