THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Anadarko has issued an update on its exploration programs offshore western Colombia and Cote d’Ivoire.

Phase II of theEsmeralda 3D seismic survey has started over Colombian blocks COL 1, COL 2, COL 6, and COL 7.

Anadarko plans to acquire a further 13,000 sq km (5,019 sq mi) of data. Phase I, completed last fall, compiled 16,300 sq km (6,293 sq mi) of 3D seismic.

Later this year the company expects to spud an exploration well on the Purple Angel block.

Off Cote d’Ivoire, Anadarko operates block CI-103. Following the successful Paon-5A horizontal appraisal well earlier this year, which encountered nearly 100 net ft of TVT pay, the Paon-3A horizontal side track is currently in progress.

This will be followed by a drillstem test and interference program. Results from these operations should provide insight on reservoir connectivity, deliverability, fluid properties, and reservoir size.

Following completion of the Paon appraisal program, the company plans exploration wells on the Pelican and Rossignol prospects in offshore blocks CI-527 and CI-528.
