DELFT, the Netherlands– Ampelmann says it will install a winterized version of its motion-compensated gangway system on a new icebreaking support vessel.
This will support maintenance and other operations at Sakhalin Energy’sSakhalin-2 facilities offshore eastern Russia over a 10-year period, allowing the transfer of crew in temperatures down to -28°C (-18.4°F).
Ampelmann says the system will be designed to withstand extreme icing, vibrations and vessel motions, while ensuring a safe, efficient, and reliable means of transfer.
In addition,Sakhalin Energy will charter a standard, non-winterized version of the company’s motion-compensated gangway for five years, to be installed on a second ice breaking support vessel and to support personnel transfer during the summer season.
