ABERDEEN, UK – Britain’s Oil & Gas Innovation Centre (OGIC) is supporting a new concept for well intervention developed by downhole group Well-SENSE Technology in Aberdeen.
Innovations in well intervention technology could bring significant cost and efficiency savings on theUK continental shelf, OGIC says, supporting initiatives to maximize recovery of the sector’s remaining reserves.
The FibreLine Intervention is said to combine several novel concepts in a single package. It is claimed to give operators the ability to perform rapid shot well investigation on a greater number of wells, resulting in opportunities for production enhancement and well integrity operations, while at the same time lowering cost and risk.
Following a call for expressions of interest,Robert Gordon University will work with Well-SENSE on further developing the concept.
OGIC has committed 50% of the required funding for this program and Well-SENSE is seeking the remainder from industry sponsors.
