HAMBURG, Germany – The Danish Energy Agency has awarded DEA Deutsche Erdoel two licenses in the western part of the Danish North Sea.
DEA made its application underDenmark’s 7th licensing round in October 2014 and was awarded licenses 8/16 and 9/16 in partnership with Dyas.
The concession area covers 530 sq km (204 sq mi) in the southern Central Graben.
The main geological target is lower Cretaceous sandstones that could be oil-prospective. Over the next few years the partners plan seismic investigations and exploration drilling.
This is DEA’s first operatorship in the Danish sector. The company is also a partner to DONG Energy in the producing Cecilie and Nini oil fields.
