COPENHAGEN, Denmark – DONG Energy and Bayerngas have decided to terminate the EPC contract for the Hejre field platform in the Danish North Sea.
The partners claim they have lost confidence in the ability ofTechnip France/Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering to deliver the platform and are holding the consortium in material breach of its contractual obligations.
On this basis, they have given notice that the contract will be terminated with immediate effect. The platform will therefore not be completed and the Hejre project in its current form will be halted.
DONG Energy will assume potential financial up/downsides related to the EPC contract and the termination process.
The partners plan to assess other options for development of the field, but with no firm first oil production date. Earlier this year DONG said that current progress meant start-up was unlikely in 2017, as planned.
