IOOC signs contracts for improved oil recovery at Sorush offshore Iran

Iranian Offshore Oil Co. and the Tabriz-based Sahand Technical University have signed their first contract for a study on improved recovery at the Sorush oil field in the Persian Gulf.

TEHRAN, IranIranian Offshore Oil Co. (IOOC) and the Tabriz-based Sahand Technical University have signed their first contract for a study on improved recovery at the Sorush oil field in the Persian Gulf.

In addition, both signed a separate contract with Dutch geoconsultant PanTerra to act as foreign partner.

An IOOC official told news service Shana: “The field’s recovery is naturally 5% which after carrying outIOR projects using updated technologies could rise to 10-15%, equivalent to 1-1.5 Bbbl of oil in addition to its natural output.”

The technological development of five offshore fields – Sorush, Noruz, Dorud,Salman, and Frouzan – under IOOC’s management is taking place under an agreement between National Iranian Oil Co. and academic research centers, and is due to be completed in 10 years, he added.
