SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Eni will operate a new exploration license offshore Ghana.
TheCape Three Points block 4, in the Tano basin, covers 1,127 sq km (435 sq mi) in water depths of 100-1,200 m (328-3,937 ft).
The company’s partners in the new block are Vitol Upstream Tano, Ghana National Petroleum Corp., Woodfields Upstream Ghana, and GNPC Exploration and Production Co.
It partly surrounds the OCTP block, also operated by Eni. If exploration proves successful, future fields could be linked to the newOCTP project infrastructure, currently under development.
OCTP is designed to produce oil and gas from the Sankofa Main, Sankofa East, and Gye-Nyame discoveries through subsea wells tied back to an FPSO, which will be connected to shore via a gas transport line.
Eni anticipates first oil in 2017 and first gas – dedicated to Ghana’s domestic market for power generation – in 2018.
