Statoil mobilizes Songa Delta for North Sea Oseberg area well

Statoil has Petroleum Safety Authority Norway’s consent to drill an exploration well 28 km (17.4 mi) south of the Oseberg field in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Statoil has Petroleum Safety Authority Norway’s consent to drill an exploration well 28 km (17.4 mi) south of the Oseberg field in the North Sea.
The semisubmersibleSonga Delta is expected to spud well 30/11-1 in mid-January, with drilling potentially lasting up to 36 days. Water depth at the site is around 106 m (348 ft).
Statoil has awarded two new long-term contracts with a combined value of around NOK11 billion ($1.23 billion) for insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment services.
Beerenberg Corp. AS and Prezioso Linjebygg will provide these services to 20 of the company’s 29 installations on the Norwegian continental shelf and its Norwegian onshore plants over a 15-year period.
These deals replace existing contracts with the two suppliers. Statoil also plans to extend contracts at some point withBilfinger Industrier and Kaefer Energy.
