ZHANGZHOU, China – Huisman has held a steel cutting ceremony with Heerema for the construction of two 10,000-metric ton (11,023-ton) tub-mounted cranes to go on Heerema’s new semisubmersible crane vessel.
The Huisman cranes will use large bearings of its own design which are manufactured in-house. One of the largest benefits of a bearing is that this allows for a substantial weight savings. The slew bearings of these cranes will have a diameter of 30 m (98 ft).
Each crane is designed to lift 10,000 metric tons at 48 m (157 ft) radius in offshore conditions.
