BERLIN, Germany – Gazprom has held talks with OMV and Wintershall’s parent company BASF about the planned Nord Stream II project in the Baltic Sea.
Last monthGazprom, E.ON, OMV, and Shell signed a memorandum of intent concerning construction of two further strings of the Nord Stream gas pipeline system providing aggregate capacity of 55 bcm/yr (1.9 bcf/yr).
These will traverse the Baltic Sea and will be connected to landfall points on the Russian and German coasts.
Discussions with OMV included forming of a joint venture responsible for the gas pipeline design, construction and operation, and OMV’s proposed acquisition of a stake in the joint venture.
BASF also discussed participation in the construction of Nord Stream II.
