AMSTERDAM – Wintershall Noordzee expects to start gas production later this year from the L6-B platform, its 25th fixed installation in the Dutch North Sea.
The company describes the new facility as a unique minimal design that allows installation in a restricted military zone.
In addition, Wintershall has submitted a production license ahead of planned development of theF17a offshore oil discovery, recently renamed Rembrandt.
The company has a 30% operated share of the 30-MMboe prospect, which it claims is one of the largest oil finds anywhere in the southern North Sea. It is currently appraising the area for further upside potential.
During 2015 the company expects to participate in eight Dutch sector wells, three as operator, along with four operated wells in the UK and Danish North Sea.
In the Danish sector, Wintershall has a 63.3% operated interest in theRavn oil field. The Danish Energy Agency has approved development, involving an unmanned production platform and a subsea pipeline transporting the crude to the A6-A platform 18 km (11.2 mi) distant in the German North Sea. From there the oil will be channeled through an existing transportation system.
