ABERDEEN, UK – Nautronix’s NASNet communications array is fully operational for Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen field development in the Norwegian Sea.
NASNet is a subsea positioning system that combines long baseline and GPS concepts with signaling technology designed to provide accurate positioning in all water depths with no acoustic interference.
Subsea 7 commissioned the contractor to supply 16 NASNet stations, a wet-stored spare station and three additional MTrx beacons to provide QC capabilities.
In late-February, Subsea 7 mobilized the construction vesselHavila Subsea in Sandnessjøen to prepare for the offshore installation. Despite harsh weather, all 17 stations were deployed to the seabed, tested, and calibrated for position. Average installation time per station was less than six hours.
