LEIDEN, the Netherlands –Heerema Offshore Services has signed a letter of intent with Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. for the engineering and construction of a new semisubmersible crane vessel.
Heerema will equip its new vessel with two cranes of 10,000 metric tons (11,023 tons) lifting capacity each. The dual cranes byHuisman Equipment B.V. provide heavy lifting capacity to install and remove offshore facilities. Furthermore, the cranes can be used to install subsea structures, foundations, moorings, and floating structures in deepwater.
The semisubmersible will be self-propelled with a transit speed of 10 knots, with power generated by dual fuel engines – MGO and LNG. Stationkeeping is by DP-3 or mooring system.
With a vessel length of 214 m (702 ft) and a width of 97.5 m (320 ft) the semisubmersible will be the world’s largest crane vessel.
