TRONDHEIM, Norway– Construction activities for the Ivar Aasen project in the Norwegian North Sea are on schedule to deliver first oil late next year, according to operator Det norske oljeselskap.
Ivar Aasen is being developed with a steel jacket platform. Its topsides will include living quarters and a processing facility for first stage separation.
The SMOE yard in Singapore is building the topsides. During 4Q 2014 the intermediate deck was blasted and painted, then stacked onto the cellar deck in late. Stacking of the weather deck should follow soon.
At Stord in Norway, stacking of the decks of living quarters into sub-modules should be completed by this summer.
Construction of the steel jacket was completed earlier this month at Arbatax in Sardinia. Sailaway is scheduled later this spring followed by installation on the Ivar Aasen field.
In January, theMaersk Interceptor drilling rig started a three-year program comprising three pilot wells and 15 development wells. The initial pilot well, however, did not test the target Løvstakken prospect above the oil-water contact. Det norske plans to return to this prospect at a later stage.
Elsewhere in the Norwegian North Sea, theTransocean Winner has completed drilling a side track with a horizontal well on a new production well in the Kameleon East reservoir, where there has been no previous production. The well is linked to the Alvheim FPSO.
Det norske expects installation of the BoaKamNorth subsea manifold linking the Boa reservoir to Alvheim to be completed in April.
