TEL AVIV, Israel – There appears to be communication issues between the partners in the Leviathan gas discovery offshore Israel and Cyprus’ government.

Delek Group says its subsidiary companies, which are among the partners, have accepted a request from the governmental gas company DEFA to postpone the period of validity and acceptance of a proposal to supply gas from the field to Cyprus via pipelines until Jan. 31.

However, DEFA has not submitted a request for an extension of the proposition since the deadline passed, and therefore the validity of the offer appears to have expired.

Delek says that to the best knowledge of the gas partnerships, the government is examining various options to supply natural gas to the domestic market in Cyprus in addition to the tender. These include supplies from the deepwaterAphrodite gas discovery in block 12 off southern Cyprus.
