HONG KONG – CNOOC has started production from the Liuhua 34-2 gas field in the eastern South China Sea, where water depths range from 850-1,250 m (2,789-4,101 ft).
The field, developed via a single producing well, shares the existing facilities ofLiwan 3-1 which came onstream in March. Currently Liuhua 34-2 is producing around 30 MMcf/d and (849,505 cm/d) is expected to reach a peak of 45 MMcf/d (1.3 MMcm/d) in 2015.
The location is 300 km (186 mi) southeast of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Natural gas from both fields is processed at the onshore gas terminal at Gaolan and sold to the mainland China market, with initial production covered by fixed-price gas sales agreements.
Husky Oil is CNOOC’s partner in the development.
