PAPENDRECHT, the Netherlands – VBMS has completed a remote platform tieback project – platform L8-P4 to L6-B – for Wintershall Noordzee BV. VBMS’ scope of work consisted of the engineering, installation, and burial of a 19.5-km (12-mi) umbilical at a water depth of 29 m (95 ft).
The J-tube pull-ins were done from the cable-laying vesselNdurance via its quadrant system without interruption or temporary laydown of the umbilical. VBMS used a specialized burial vessel for the post-installation jet trenching.
The L6-B platform is a remote tieback to L8-P4 in the L blocks in the Dutch sector of theNorth Sea, located 30 km (19 mi) northwest of Den Helder. The platform is the newest addition to the Wintershall offshore assets in this sector.
