LONDON – SOCO International says the H5 development project in block 16/1 offshore southern Vietnam is on course for first oil in September or October 2015.

This past September, fabrication and installation was completed of the H5‐WHP (wellhead platform), 22 days ahead of schedule.

The jackupNaga-2 started development drilling from the platform last month. It has already completed the TGT‐22P well and is batch‐drilling the TGT‐23P and ‐24P wells.

TGT‐22P was drilled in a manner designed to more accurately determine the distribution of gas and oil evidenced during testing of the Miocene sands on the Te Giac Trang (TGT‐10X) discovery well. However, initial analysis suggests a higher distribution of oil in the upper portion of the Miocene reservoir and a more limited gas section.

Naga‐2 will drill up to six H5 wells before leaving the platform in April to allow for the topsides and production pipelines to be installed and for hook‐up and commissioning to proceed ahead of start‐up later in the year.

The Hoang Long Joint Operating Co. (HLJOC) partners, including SOCO, also continue work on updatingTGT field development plan for submission to the Vietnamese authorities during 1Q 2015.

One of the main issues is de‐bottlenecking of theFPSO, increasing production, and improving field recovery. Timing of the FPSO oil capacity test will depend on approval of the drilling program.

Earlier this year, SOCO commissioned consultants ERC Equipoise (ERCE) to construct a field-wide model of the TGT field, incorporating all available seismic, appraisal and development well data, and production history.

ERCE will build a new static geoscience model and a new dynamic engineering model, with the full field simulation model due to be completed by year-end. This is expected to enable HLJOC to optimize future drilling and field management activity.
