TORSHAVN, Faroe Islands – Atlantic Petroleum has updated test operations at the Centrica-operated 43/13b-7 Pegasus West gas discovery in the UK southern North Sea.
Three drillstem tests flowed gas at a combined rate of 91 MMcf/d (2.6 MMcm/d) from three Carboniferous intervals.
Now that the program has been completed the well will be suspended for use as a future producer.
The jackupParagon 391 drilled the well in 95 ft (29 m) of water, 7 km (4.3 mi) southwest of the 2011 43/13b-6Z Pegasus North discovery well and near the producing Cavendish field.
The Pegasus area is 150 km (93 mi) east of Teesside, northeast England, and near the large Cygnus gas development in which Centrica is a partner.
Colette Cohen, Centrica’s senior vice president for the UK and the Netherlands, said: “New discoveries like Pegasus prove there are many years left in theNorth Sea oil and gas industry and we are determined to play our part in maximizing the region’s potential. The Pegasus West well will now be suspended while we assess the data we have gathered and make a decision on development.”
Centrica has a 55% operated interest in Pegasus and Pegasus North, in partnership with Third Energy (35%) and Atlantic Petroleum (10%).
In the central North Sea, Atlantic is partners with Centrica in theChestnut field. Here the partners have extended the contract for the cylindrical Hummingbird FPSO contract, prolonging production from the field to at least March 2017.
Nexen has restarted production from the Ettrick field following a planned extended shutdown over the summer, again to help prolong field life. Nexen also has tied in a new production well at Blackbird to theAoka Mizu FPSO facilities, Atlantic said.
Atlantic’s forward UK exploration drilling program includes wells on the Skerryvore structure during the second half of next year, Greater York in 4Q 2015, and Aurora in 1Q 2016.
