STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Lundin Petroleum has issued a progress report on its various development projects in the Norwegian North Sea.
Drilling of a new infill well onAlvheim commenced during 4Q 2014 and the well is expected to enter production early next year. Two further infill wells are planned in 2015, with both set to come onstream later in the year or early in 2016.
The Alvheim partnership should soon sanction development of the Viper/Kobra accumulations through the Alvheim facilities.
Production from the Volund field has been impacted by two weather related shut-ins of theAlvheim FPSO, lower liquid throughput and a higher water-cut, although these have been partly offset by improved FPSO uptime. At least one infill well will likely be drilled on Volund during 2016.
The Bøyla field is being developed as a 28-km (17.4-mi) subsea tieback to theAlvheim FPSO with two producer wells and one water injector. The semisubmersible Transocean Winner has completed drilling two of the wells and the top-hole section of the final production well.
Subsea work continues to tie in the first two wells, with first oil forecast for 1Q 2015. The final production well is expected to be tied in soon afterward.
TheGaupe field is shut-in but could recommence limited production in 2015, subject to economic conditions.
As for the Lundin-operatedEdvard Grieg development in the central Norwegian North Sea, installation of the 94-km (58.4-mi) gas pipeline to the UK’s Sage Beryl gas system was completed this summer. Kværner continues construction of the platform topsides, which are scheduled for mechanical completion by year end 2014, followed by onshore commissioning.
The Y-connection between the Edvard Grieg export oil pipeline and the Grane oil pipeline in the Norwegian sector also has been completed. Installation of the topsides and the 43-km (26.7-mi) Edvard Grieg oil pipeline to the Y-connection is expected to start during spring/summer 2015.
Lundin plans three or four appraisal wells offshore Norway next year, including two on the recentAlta oil discovery in license PL609 in the Barents Sea. It is also lining up an appraisal well on the south eastern part of the Edvard Grieg field in PL338, and may drill another appraisal well on the Gohta discovery in PL492 in the Barents Sea.
In the Dutch North Sea, an exploration well on the E17a/b prospect (Lundin 1.20%) has encountered gas, and development options are under assessment. A development well is due to spud soon on E17.
Offshore peninsular Malaysia, Lundin plans an exploration well before year-end in block PM307 targeting the 21-MMboe Mengkuang-1 oil prospect, followed by another in late 2015 on the 22-MMboe Rengas oil prospect. Both will be drilled by the jackupWest Prospero.
