LONDONSalamander Energy has received a conditional takeover offer from Ophir Energy.

The company, which produces oil from the Bualang field in theGulf of Thailand, has also been approached by a consortium led by Compañía Española de Petróleos (CEPSA) and Jynwel Capital.

In the latter case, Salamander’s board of Salamander has not received details of the proposal or confirmation that any offer will result.

This summer, Salamander signed an agreement under whichSona Petroleum Bhd would acquire an effective 40% interest in the B8/38 concession containing Bualuang and the surrounding offshore G4/50 concession.

The board is recommending that its shareholders accept this offer, which would net the company $280 million.
