PEMEX, ExxonMobil agree to cooperate

ExxonMobil Corp. has joined the list of companies signing cooperation agreements with PEMEX.

HOUSTON –ExxonMobil Corp. has joined the list of companies signing cooperation agreements with PEMEX.

The director general of Pemex, Emilio Lozoya Austin and President of ExxonMobil Corp., Rex. W. Tillerson, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the two companies to “establish bases for dialogue and analysis of business opportunities in upstream and downstream areas.”

The MOU also provides for the companies to “seek space for sharing best practices in the field, as well as issues related to the development of human capital and industrial safety,” said the PEMEX release.

PEMEX also said the MOU adds to its efforts to attract new technologies and capital so as to compete in the new Mexican oil market.

In recent weeks, PEMEX has signed agreements withPetronas, ONGC Videsh, and BHP Billiton.
