ABERDEEN, UKNautronix has secured an order to supply NASNet, an underwater positioning system, for Subsea 7. The system will be used on the Aasta Hansteen field in the northern part of the Norwegian Sea, 300 km (186 mi) west of Bodø, at a 1,300-m (4,265-ft) water depth. Statoil is developing the field.

Nautronix will supply 16 stations and four complete vessel systems, which will go on hire in March 2015 for approximately 200 days and will be deployed for the first time in Norwegian waters where the water depth is significant and the weather conditions can be challenging.

NASNet is a subsea positioning system that combines long baseline (LBL) and GPS concepts with the latest signaling technology. The system employs a broadcast technique to provide multi-user, accurate, and reliable positioning in all water depths with no acoustic interference.
