OSLO, Norway – Forty-seven companies have applied for licenses under Norway’s predefined areas (APA) 2014 bid round.
The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) now starts the evaluation process.
“We are looking for the best applicants, companies with good knowledge, new geological concepts, and the best strategy for exploring the areas,” said Sissel Eriksen, NPD’s exploration director.
The Norwegian Petroleum and Energy Ministry will likely award the production licenses in January
Total acreage of 109,205 sq km (42,164 sq mi) was open for applications this year. Compared withAPA 2013, the predefined areas were expanded to include six more blocks in the Norwegian Sea and three in the Barents Sea.
